Hello. I am Sonja Durr {pseudonym} The Robotanist. I design, write, and enjoy ethnographic research.

I have had a variety of graphic design jobs since graduating from Montana State University with a BFA in Graphic Design. I began by working as a designer at the Bozeman Daily Chronicle which taught me efficiency, attention to detail, and organization. From there I went on the work at two small design studios, Classic Ink and The White Space, where communication, customer relationships and caring, thoughtful design were paramount. Previous to setting off on my own, I worked in-house for a company called ETL, wearing every hat from designer to marketer, blogger to photographer.

Currently, I am the Art Director of CRAWL and OutdoorX4 Magazines, and I recently received my MFA in Graphic Design from the Vermont College of Fine Arts.

If you would like to get to know me a little more personally, take a gander at the photos below. This is just a simple list of things I enjoy. To view the images larger, just click on them.

“I still find each day too short for all the thoughts I want to think, all the walks I want to take, all the books I want to read, and all the friends I want to see.”
– JOHN BURROUGHS

“Design is the search for a magical balance between business and art; art and craft; intuition and reason; concept and detail; playfulness and formality; client and designer; designer and printer; and printer and public.”
— VALERIE PETTIS
